So I just added or .. did add late last night a pixlr document format (.pxd). Saving a pxd file will keep all the layers, filters, texts etc so you can revisit the image and continue working on it.
It's also good if you would like to share files with friend or colleagues or for creating templates.
The pxd format will be open for anybody who wants to create readers, I'll add the document specification later on.

Thank you!
Great feature but...why another different format? Why not saving in PSD with all the layers? We do not want another format to deal with, we would prefer to have a single format: PSD is the most used and you should consider to save in this format instead.
Because PSD is a locked format .. we will not be able to save layer styles and other pixlr specific data .. PSD save will be added as well, but not 100% compatible.
Definitely a step forward! Many thanks. This is great but... it would have been much better to use a non binary format such as a zipped XML or SVG (and have JPEG files saved inside the ZIP, aka docx or odt format).
just what i've been waiting for! thanks
I´m working in PC and wonder if MAC-users can use this as easy as I can and if we could share the format as well?
By the way, I tried to save a very large file in pxd and that did not work, then I tried another one, not so big and that one worked perfect.
Would be much nicer to have an open format. Sumopaint uses a simple zip file with the layers as png files.
What do you think?
I think the same as OnclePhil. the format used by sumopaint is easier for interoperability with other software. For my usage it will be great to open pxd files with photoshop (or the gimp), are you intended to devellop a plugin for photoshop (the gimp) so it will be possible to open pxd format with those softs ?
